AFCON 2025: What Should Fans Know About Match Venues and the Schedule?

AFCON 2025 will take place across several Moroccan cities that have spent years improving their stadiums, transport systems and fan facilities.

For supporters following the tournament, the locations matter because they influence travel plans, fan experience and match atmosphere. The schedule is also packed with daily games from morning to night, giving fans a month-long football festival.

With venues spread across the country and the final set in Rabat, the tournament aims to blend modern infrastructure with a lively matchday environment.

Q: Where exactly will AFCON 2025 be played?

A: Matches are planned across six cities using nine stadiums. Rabat leads with four venues and will host the opening match and the final. Other cities in the rotation include Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir and Fes. Each offers its own style and fan culture.

Q: Which venues are the biggest?

A: Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca and Grande Stade de Tangier are the largest. All three hold more than sixty thousand fans and are expected to host many of the biggest fixtures, including major group games and knockout rounds.

Q: How does the match schedule work?

A: After the opening game on 21 December, the group stage runs daily from 22 to 31 December. There will be four matches each day at 12:30, 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00 GMT. The last round of group games will be played in simultaneous pairs to ensure fair competition.

Q: When does the knockout stage begin?

A: The round of sixteen begins on 3 January. The knockout rounds follow a consistent pattern with most games at either 16:00 or 19:00 GMT. The final will take place on 18 January in Rabat.

Q: Why is this schedule important for fans?

A: Supporters can enjoy multiple matches per day, which is ideal for the holiday period. The timing also suits viewers across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, making it easier for the tournament to draw high engagement from millions of fans.
