Chelsea’s hopes for automatic Champions League knockout qualification took a severe hit after Atalanta came from behind to win 2-1 in Bergamo.
João Pedro gave Chelsea the first-half lead (25′), but a strong second-half performance from the hosts saw them turn the match around.
Gianluca Scamacca levelled (55′) before Charles de Ketelaere netted the late winner (83′).
The result means Chelsea drop to 11th in the league phase table, falling out of the top eight automatic qualification spots with two games left.
This defeat extends the Blues’ winless run across all competitions to four matches, prompting further concern over their current form. Atalanta rise to third place.
