Manchester United loanee Andre Onana has been caught in a chaotic power struggle within the Cameroon national team, receiving a surprise AFCON call-up from a sacked coach just after being excluded by the interim manager.
The controversy stems from an unprecedented feud where two different head coaches—recently dismissed Marc Brys and interim appointee David Pagou—have submitted conflicting squad lists for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Brys is reportedly refusing to acknowledge his dismissal by Fecafoot and insists on continuing in his role.
While interim coach Pagou left the goalkeeper out, the list submitted by Brys includes Onana’s name.
The uncertainty puts Onana, who has been enjoying a revival on loan at Trabzonspor, in an impossible position with the final squad submission deadline looming on Thursday.
Fellow Red Devils star Bryan Mbeumo and transfer target Carlos Baleba are reportedly included on both lists.
