EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers have voiced their “disappointment” over defender Ryan Alebiosu’s inclusion in the Nigeria Super Eagles squad for AFCON 2025.
The former Arsenal man, a key figure in the Rovers defense, is set to miss up to seven or eight crucial league games—potentially until January 18—as the club fights to stay clear of the relegation zone.
The versatile right-back’s call-up marks his first international recognition since his summer move to Ewood Park, a progress the club acknowledged, stating: “Whilst Rovers are disappointed to be losing a key player at such a crucial stage in the season, the club are proud of Ryan’s progress…”
Alebiosu’s absence poses a significant challenge for Blackburn, currently sitting just five points above the drop zone.
