Defending AFCON champions Côte d’Ivoire face a major concern after key striker Sebastien Haller suffered a reported hamstring injury while playing for FC Utrecht on Sunday.
Haller, the match-winner in the previous AFCON final, came off the bench against NAC Breda in the 68th minute but was substituted just 12 minutes later.
The injury throws his participation in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco into doubt.
Neither the club nor the Ivorian national team has yet issued an update on the severity of the injury.
Haller’s goal-scoring ability and leadership are considered vital for the Elephants as they attempt to retain their continental crown.
