AS Roma has confirmed that midfielder Neil El Aynaoui will miss tonight’s Serie A match against Como (19:45 GMT) after losing an appeal to keep him from joining the Morocco squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Because the Week 15 fixture is on a Monday, Morocco successfully appealed to FIFA to withdraw El Aynaoui early, as they play their opening AFCON match on December 21.
However, defender Evan Ndicka will play for Roma tonight after the Ivory Coast granted permission for him to delay his departure.
Similarly, Como will field their Senegalese player, Assane Diao, whose national team begins its AFCON campaign on December 23.
