Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany praised on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson’s impact, confirming the Senegalese international would leave after the Mainz game for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Jackson’s loan from Chelsea, which includes a contested €65 million buy option, has seen him contribute five goals and one assist in 525 minutes. Kompany called him a “real luxury” to have alongside Harry Kane.
“He’s helped us a lot – his goals-per-minute ratio is good,” Kompany stated.
The manager also stressed the significance of AFCON for African players, saying its importance “shouldn’t be underestimated.”
Bayern will miss Jackson’s depth for a maximum of six games, a loss partially softened by the upcoming Bundesliga winter break.
