Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is reportedly traveling to Saudi Arabia this week before linking up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), intensifying speculation over his future at Anfield.
According to Al-Riyadiya, Salah plans to perform the pilgrimage of Umrah in Jeddah, and may meet with the Saudi Ministry of Tourism.
The detour comes amidst reports that Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to reignite interest in January, believing they can land the forward for $134 million (£100m) despite Liverpool’s ‘not for sale’ stance.
The star’s recent clash with manager Arne Slot and a perceived “farewell wave” to the Kop have added to the uncertainty before his departure for AFCON.
Coach Slot insists he expects Salah back after the tournament, stating their recent issue has been “dealt with.”
Salah’s stopover in the Gulf nation ensures his name will dominate transfer headlines as he prepares for AFCON, where he is due extra time before joining the Egyptian squad.
