Michael Wokorach’s retirement has been underlined by numbers that confirm his place among Uganda rugby’s most decorated and consistent performers.
According to a statistical record compiled by Isa Metrics, the data reflects both longevity and elite-level output.
Even in what now stands as his final season, Wokorach remained productive.
In the 2025 Rugby Premiership, he featured in eight matches, starting five, averaging 61.75 minutes per game and scoring eight tries.
That return translated to 1.30 tries per 80 minutes, a notable rate for a player operating between loose forward and centre.
In the Uganda Cup, he played six matches, started all of them, averaged 71.33 minutes per game and crossed the line five times, posting 0.93 tries per 80 minutes.
Across his career, Wokorach represented Buffaloes between 2006 and 2007 before joining Heathens RFC in 2008, where he remained active up to 2025.
On the international stage, he earned 54 test caps for the Rugby Cranes XVs across spells from 2009 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2023.
He was also a long-serving figure in the Uganda Sevens setup from 2009 to 2023, represented the Uganda Rugby Legends, and was named in the Uganda All Stars squad for 2025.
His honours list is extensive. At club level, Wokorach won the Rugby Premiership eleven times and lifted the Uganda Cup on seven occasions. He also claimed six National Sevens Series titles and three Makerere 10s crowns.
With the Rugby Cranes, he won the Elgon Cup twice, finished runner-up at the 2012 Rugby Africa Cup XVs and was part of the 2023 Victoria Cup-winning side.
In sevens rugby, he won three Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens titles, finished runner-up twice, and represented Uganda at the Rugby Sevens World Cup in 2018 and 2022, winning the Bowl at the 2022 edition. He also appeared at four Commonwealth Games between 2010 and 2022.
Individually, Wokorach was named Uganda Rugby MVP in 2013 and 2015, Rugby Premiership top try scorer in 2015, MVP at the Makerere Sevens in 2014, and USPA Player of the Year in 2013 and 2015. He was also part of the famed 2012 Elgon Warriors team.
