FUFA Drum Group Fixtures Resume as 2024/25 Season Enters Key Phase

The FUFA Drum group stage will resume on December 20, restarting the 2024/25 competition after a pause following the opening two match days played in late August and early September.

The return marks the start of a decisive period that will run through January 2026, with qualification for the knockout stage firmly in focus.

The early rounds delivered competitive results across all four groups. In Group A, Acholi opened with a 1-0 win over Bugisu, while Group B produced one of the tournament’s most entertaining games so far as Buganda and Ankole drew 3-3.

Busoga began strongly in Group C with a 2-0 victory against Kigezi, while Group D started cautiously with Teso and Tooro playing out a goalless draw. Match Day Two sustained the tempo, highlighted by West Nile’s narrow win over Bugisu and Bunyoro’s 2-1 success against Busoga.

Attention now turns to the next set of fixtures, where established rivalries will be renewed across the country. Acholi host West Nile in Gulu, Kigezi welcome Bunyoro in Kabale, Ankole face Lango in Mbarara, and Teso take on Kampala in Bukedea. These games are expected to shape the standings as the group stage enters its most demanding stretch.

Further high stakes matches are scheduled over the festive period on Match Day Four, before the competition moves into its final two rounds in early January.

Fixtures will be spread across Mbale, Lugazi, Kamuli, Fort Portal, Arua, Apac, Hoima and Kampala, with group winners and the best runners-up advancing to the knockout phase.

The FUFA Drum remains Uganda’s flagship regional football competition, serving as a platform for emerging talent while drawing strong community support across the provinces.
