Mozambique secured a landmark 3–2 victory over Gabon on Sunday, marking their first-ever win in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The “Mambas” surged to a 2–0 lead in the first half with goals from Faisal Bangal (37′) and a Geny Catamo penalty (43′).
Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back in stoppage time, but Diogo Calila restored Mozambique’s cushion shortly after the break (52′).
Despite a late strike from Gabon’s Alex Musonda (77′), Mozambique held firm to claim their first three points of the 2025 tournament.
The result leaves Gabon at the bottom of Group Six, while Mozambique celebrates a historic milestone in Moroccan soil.
