Anthony Joshua Team Members Die in Road Crash

Two close aides to Anthony Joshua were killed Monday when their vehicle struck a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The British heavyweight champion is in stable condition and remains under observation.

The victims were identified as Sina Ghami, Joshua’s long-time rehabilitation coach, and Latif Ayodele, his personal trainer and close friend.

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) indicated the vehicle may have been speeding before losing control during an overtaking maneuver.

Ghami and Ayodele were described as “integral” to Joshua’s career, having been with him since his early championship days.

The 36-year-old boxer is conscious and stable. He was in Nigeria for New Year celebrations following his recent win over Jake Paul.

Promoter Eddie Hearn and boxers Chris Eubank Jr. and Jake Paul have all released statements mourning the “profound” loss of the two men.

While Joshua was slated for a February bout in Saudi Arabia, his team is currently focused on his recovery and supporting the families of the deceased.
