As Nigeria prepares for Monday’s Round of 16 clash against Mozambique, the financial atmosphere in the Super Eagles camp is a mix of settled accounts and pending payouts.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has fully settled all salary arrears for head coach Eric Chelle, including his $55,000 January pay and $60,000 in group-stage match bonuses.
With his contract obligations met, the Franco-Malian tactician is reportedly focused entirely on the knockout stages after a flawless three-win start to the tournament.
While the coaching staff is paid up, the players are still awaiting their tournament incentives. Following successful negotiations, the NFF agreed to double the Round of 16 qualification bonus from $15,000 to $30,000 per player.
Despite the wait for payouts, morale remains high as Nigeria—one of the tournament favorites—aims for its first continental title since 2013.
