The fourth edition of the Discovery Uganda Run will take place on January 30 and 31, 2026 at the Kapchorwa Boma Grounds, continuing its push to identify and develop athletics talent from the Sebei region.
The annual event was founded by world champion Jacob Kiplimo as a grassroots platform aimed at nurturing young runners from an area widely regarded as one of Uganda’s strongest talent pools for distance running.
Since its launch, the Discovery Uganda Run has grown in stature and is now seen as an important pathway for emerging athletes looking to break into competitive athletics.
The 2026 edition has attracted increased backing, with sponsorship from NIKE and Rosa Management, in partnership with Uganda Athletics, and powered by Chicago Marathon champion Jacob Kiplimo. The support underlines the rising profile of the event and its role in shaping the next generation of long distance runners in the country.
This year’s competition will feature multiple categories, including trail races for senior men and women, road races for senior men and women, and junior races for both boys and girls. The variety of formats is intended to give athletes at different stages of development a chance to compete and showcase their potential.
Organisers have set aside a total prize purse of UGX 25 million, adding further incentive for strong performances while rewarding excellence and commitment among participants.
