Victor Osimhen scored twice as Nigeria dismantled Mozambique 4-0 on Monday, cruising into the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.
The Super Eagles dominated from the whistle, allaying any lingering doubts about their form in Morocco.
Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute before turning provider for Osimhen’s first of the night just five minutes later.
Osimhen completed his brace immediately after halftime, capitalizing on a “right place, right time” opportunity that effectively ended the contest. Akor Adams added a late fourth to cap a perfect evening for Eric Chelle’s side.
Mozambique, appearing in their first-ever AFCON knockout match, struggled to find their footing and finished the game without a single shot on target.
Nigeria now moves on to face either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-finals as they continue their hunt for continental glory.
