Boston Legacy Football Club have announced the signing of Ugandan striker Fauzia Najjemba on a two year contract, with an option to renew, ahead of their debut season in the National Women’s Soccer League. Najjemba will link up with Legacy FC when players report for preseason training. Boston Legacy will play their home matches at Gillette Stadium.
Najjemba joins the club on a free transfer from Russian side Dynamo Moscow, where she spent three years. Dynamo Moscow signed her from Kazakhstan club Shymkent, where she had been recruited to replace former striker Racheal Kundananji.
The former Kampala Queens WFC forward went on to win the Kazakhstan league title with Shymkent in 2022 and represented the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers the same year.
The 22 year old has represented Uganda at both youth and senior levels. She scored two goals for the Uganda U20 team during the 2022 Africa U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers and also found the net in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with the senior national team.

“I’m excited to join Boston Legacy,” said Najjemba. “I am so grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to give my all for the team. She is proud to represent Boston and eager to work”.
“We are excited to welcome Fauzia to Boston. She’s a young player with a lot of potential who has gained valuable experience across two European leagues, and she is an important part of the Crested Cranes,” remarked Boston Legacy FC General Manager Domé Guasch.
“We believe her qualities will translate well in the NWSL, and she has the right mindset to learn, improve, and keep pushing. We are confident we shall provide her with the conducive environment to help her take the next step,” added Guasch.
Boston Legacy FC Coaching and Technical Leadership includes head coach Filipa Patão, appointed in July 2025 as the club’s inaugural coach. Patão joined from Portuguese giants SL Benfica, where she led the club to five consecutive league titles and a historic UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinal appearance in 2024.

The club’s General Manager is Doménec “Domé” Guasch, who oversees technical operations. He previously served as recruitment and contract manager for FC Barcelona Femení, bringing extensive experience from one of the most successful women’s football clubs in the world.
Edward Gallagher serves as Director of Player Recruitment. He was the first director hired by the club and previously worked as women’s players manager at Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League.
