Uganda have confirmed their full entry list for the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, with a balanced squad named across the senior and U20 races ahead of competition on Saturday 10 January.
The team is headlined by Jacob Kiplimo, who returns to defend his senior men’s title after victories in Bathurst in 2023 and Belgrade in 2024.
Kiplimo previously won the U20 crown on home soil in Kampala in 2017 and arrives in Tallahassee chasing a rare senior hat trick.
He is joined in the senior men’s race by Dan Kibet, Emmanuel Kibet, Dolphine Chelimo, Keneth Kiprop and Deogracius Musobo, giving Uganda depth and experience in a highly competitive field.
Uganda’s senior women’s entry blends proven performers and rising names.
Sarah Chelangat, who finished fifth at the last championships in Belgrade, returns alongside Rebecca Chelangat, Kereen Chemusto, Martha Chemutai, Joy Cheptoyek and Rispa Cherop as the team targets another strong collective showing.
In the U20 men’s race, Uganda will be represented by Solomon Andiema, Daniel Kiprotich Chelogoi, Abraham Cherotich, Dan Kipyeko and Jeremiah Kwemoi, continuing the country’s tradition of exposing young talent on the global stage.
The U20 women’s team includes Peace Chebet, Felister Chekwemoi, Nancy Chepkwurui, Charity Cherop and Bentalin Yeko, a group that will be looking to make an impact against deep opposition from across the world.
A total of 485 athletes from 52 federations have been entered for the championships, with final start lists to be confirmed on the eve of competition.
Uganda finished third on the medal table at the last edition in Belgrade.
