Tournament hosts Morocco moved one step closer to their first continental title in 50 years with a 2-0 quarter-final win over Cameroon.
Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute—his fifth goal of the tournament—before Ismael Saibari doubled the lead in the second half.
The victory ends a 22-year drought for the Atlas Lions, marking their first return to the AFCON semi-finals since 2004. They will face the winner of the Algeria-Nigeria clash.
In Tangiers, Senegal also progressed after a 1-0 victory over a 10-man Mali side. Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye scored the winner in the 27th minute following a goalkeeping error.
Mali’s hopes were further dashed when captain Yves Bissouma was sent off for a second yellow card before the break.
Morocco awaits the winner of Algeria vs. Nigeria while Senegal will face either defending champions Ivory Coast or Egypt.
