Jacob Kiplimo secured his third consecutive World Athletics Cross Country Championships title, confirming his status as the dominant force in men’s distance running with another commanding performance in Tallahassee, Florida.
Kiplimo crossed the line first to complete a rare hat trick of world titles, adding to his victories from Bathurst in 2023 and Belgrade in 2024. Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega Aregawi once again finished second, repeating his familiar position behind Kiplimo, while Kenya’s Benson Kiplangat Ebenyo claimed the bronze medal.
Uganda also finished on the podium in the senior men’s team standings, placing third with 39 points. Ethiopia claimed the team gold with 30 points after placing multiple runners near the front, edging Kenya who finished second with 34 points. The United States placed fourth on 81 points, led home by Parker Wolfe in 11th position.
Kiplimo’s victory capped another strong championship for Uganda and reinforced the country’s standing among the world’s leading distance running nations, with the senior men delivering a medal at both individual and team level on the global stage.
