Uganda has flagged off a 12 player junior tennis team for the 2026 Eastern Africa Junior Individual and Team Championships, set for January 14 to 22 in Nairobi, Kenya, as the country targets another strong regional showing and qualification for continental finals.
The team will compete in both the Under 14 and Under 16 categories, continuing Uganda’s push to build depth and consistency on the regional junior tennis circuit.
The championships will bring together players from 12 countries, making Nairobi a key testing ground for the young Ugandan talents.
Uganda heads into the tournament with high expectations, particularly in the Under 14 category where the country will be defending its regional title against strong opposition.
The event is viewed as an important benchmark for player development as well as a chance to measure progress against the best juniors in Eastern Africa.
Beyond medals and regional pride, the stakes are higher in Nairobi with qualification to the Africa Junior Team Championships finals on the line.
The continental finals are scheduled for May 2026, meaning a strong performance in Kenya would secure Uganda a place among Africa’s elite junior teams and underline the country’s growing ambition in tennis development.
