The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a formal investigation into misconduct during the AFCON quarter-finals in Morocco.
The probe follows “unacceptable behavior” by players and officials during two high-tension matches: Cameroon vs. Morocco and Algeria vs. Nigeria.
Following Nigeria’s 2–0 win, Algerian players were reportedly seen confronting match officials in the tunnel over a disputed handball decision.
Key Investigation Areas:
• On-Pitch Clashes: Confrontations between players and staff from both matches.
• Referee Safety: CAF strongly condemned any behavior targeting the refereeing team or organizers.
• Media Misconduct: Footage is being reviewed of a “mixed zone” brawl allegedly involving Moroccan and Algerian reporters.
CAF has referred all evidence to its Disciplinary Board. “Appropriate actions will be taken against anyone whose behavior is not consistent with professional conduct,” the governing body stated.
