Manchester City have signed Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for £20 million on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
The 25-year-old England defender arrives at the Etihad following a medical on Sunday, providing urgent cover for injured stars Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol.
City’s defensive depth was tested in Saturday’s 2-0 derby loss to Manchester United, where they relied heavily on academy prospects.
A modest £20m fee was paid, as Guehi was in the final months of his Palace contract.
A Chelsea academy product, Guehi made 188 appearances for Palace and captained them to FA Cup glory over City last May.
Known for his elite ball-distribution and leadership, Guehi ranks in the Premier League’s top 10 for interceptions and line-breaking passes this season.
“I am now at the best club in England,” Guehi said. “It feels good to be able to say that.”
This follows City’s £62.5m signing of Antoine Semenyo earlier this month as they chase a seven-point gap behind leaders Arsenal.
