Manchester City’s squad will refund the ticket costs of 374 fans who traveled to Norway for their shock 3-1 Champions League loss to Bodo/Glimt.
Following back-to-back defeats—including a weekend loss to rivals Manchester United—the squad’s leadership group, including Erling Haaland and Rodri, pledged a total of £9,357 to reimburse supporters who braved sub-zero temperatures in the Arctic Circle.
Players will cover the £25 ticket cost for every traveling fan.
Captain Erling Haaland labeled the performance “embarrassing” and apologized to the supporters.
City suffered one of the biggest upsets in tournament history and must now beat Galatasaray to ensure a top-eight finish.
“We know the sacrifice fans make,” the captaincy group said in a statement. “Covering the cost of these tickets is the least we can do.”
The Official Supporters’ Club praised the move, noting that while fans didn’t ask for money back, the gesture reinforces the “incredible connection” between the team and its followers.
