Spanish Football Federation president Rafael Louzan has declared that Spain will host the 2030 World Cup final, citing the country’s “proven” organizational credentials over co-hosts Morocco and Portugal.
While Morocco has lobbied to hold the match at its planned 115,000-capacity Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca, Louzan suggested recent unrest has hurt their bid.
He pointed to “scenes that damage the image of world football” during the recent Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final in Rabat, which saw pitch invasion attempts and a team walk-off protest.
“Spain will be the leader of the 2030 World Cup and the final… will be held here,” Louzan stated, with Real Madrid’s Bernabeu and Barcelona’s Nou Camp viewed as the top venue candidates.
