URA head coach Hussein Mbalangu has sounded the alarm ahead of his side’s trip to face Calvary, stressing that reputation alone will not win matches as both teams find themselves trapped in the same troubling situation.
The Tax Collectors travel to Midigo Primary School on Tuesday to take on the league newcomers in the penultimate fixture of the first round, with pressure mounting heavily on both camps. Calvary remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just three points, while URA’s position is only marginally better despite their more established status.
Mbalangu was blunt in his assessment of the challenge ahead, refusing to draw any distinction between the two sides based on history or pedigree.
“We can’t take anything for granted at the moment,” he stated to the club media.
“At the moment, we are in the same category with Calvary because both of us have not won in five matches,” he explained.
URA arrive at Midigo nursing wounds from a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Vipers in their previous outing, a result that extended their miserable run to five consecutive matches without a point, the worst form streak in the league currently.
Despite sitting on 11 points, URA are level with several teams hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone, making Tuesday’s encounter far more than a routine fixture. Failure to collect all three points against Calvary would almost certainly intensify scrutiny and spark anxiety within the club’s camp.
While URA may still be viewed as favourites on paper, recent performances suggest that confidence, momentum, and urgency, not status, will decide the outcome.
