Mikel Arteta has called on Arsenal fans to “jump on the fun boat” and embrace the final four months of the season, following a squad meeting held to “bring the temperature down” after Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.
Despite the loss—Arsenal’s first at home this season—and a three-match winless run in the league, the Gunners remain four points clear at the top of the Premier League. Arteta described the mood in the camp as “excellent” and full of conviction.
“We have earned the right to be in a great position in four competitions,” Arteta said ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Kairat. “We are going to play with enjoyment, courage, and the conviction that we’re going to win.”
Addressing the boos heard at the Emirates on Sunday, Arteta urged anxious supporters to trust the process: “I encouraged them to jump in this boat because it’s going to be fun. Incredible things are going to emerge.”
Arsenal currently lead the Premier League and the Champions League group stage, hold a semi-final advantage in the Carabao Cup, and remain active in the FA Cup as they chase their first league title since 2004.
