UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: Unstoppable Vipers Extend Commanding Lead at the Summit

Vipers SC’s relentless march at the top of the Uganda Premier League shows no sign of slowing down. On Friday night at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, the Venoms once again underlined their growing authority over the division with a crushing 4-0 demolition of Buhimba United, a result that further highlighted their dominance this season.

The league leaders have become a standard-setter in the title race, ruthless, controlled and increasingly untouchable. Still unbeaten deep into the campaign, Vipers are now clear at the summit with 36 points from 14 matches, opening a six-point gap over their nearest challengers, Entebbe UPPC FC, who have played a game more. With 11 wins and three draws, their consistency has been nothing short of imperious.

The contest at Kitende followed a familiar script for the runaway leaders. Vipers flew out of the blocks and struck almost immediately, Milton Karisa rising to glance home Chukwuma Odili’s inviting delivery to jolt Buhimba before they had time to settle.

The pressure was unrelenting. Buhimba were forced deeper and deeper as Vipers dictated the rhythm of the game, and it was no surprise when Abdulkarim Watambala doubled the advantage, timing his run perfectly to meet another Odili cross from the left and expose the visitors’ fragile defensive organisation.

Karisa then put the game firmly to bed before the interval. Usama Arafat’s clever work carved open the defence, allowing the skipper to crash home a stunning volley for his second of the night, a moment that summed up the hosts’ sharpness and confidence in front of goal.

After the restart, Vipers continued to suffocate Buhimba with their pressing and movement. Abubakali Walusimbi crowned the performance by driving forward from midfield and bending a fine effort into the corner, sealing a comprehensive win that barely flattered the champions-in-waiting.

As the season gathers momentum, Vipers’ stranglehold on the title race is becoming harder to ignore. Unbeaten, free-scoring and defensively assured, they are setting a daunting pace for the chasing pack.

For Buhimba United, the heavy defeat only deepens their struggles, leaving them 12th on 13 points from 15 matches and searching for answers in a campaign that continues to test their resolve.
