British Breakthrough: Raducanu and Boulter Secure Historic Dual Finals

British tennis reached a landmark milestone on Friday as Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter both advanced to WTA finals, marking the first time two British women will play for Tour-level titles on the same day.

In Romania, Raducanu secured a marathon 7-5 3-6 6-3 victory over Oleksandra Oliynykova to reach the Transylvania Open final. It is her first final since her historic 2021 US Open win.

Despite a mid-match slump, Raducanu snapped a six-match losing streak in deciding sets to set up a title clash with home favorite Sorana Cirstea.

“I’m so proud of how I competed,” Raducanu said, celebrating a hard-fought return to form following recent injury woes and coaching changes.

Meanwhile, at the Ostrava Open, Katie Boulter surged into her first final in 15 months with a clinical 6-1 6-3 win over American Katie Volynets. Now working with coach Michael Joyce, Boulter is one win away from a return to the world’s top 100. She will face either Diane Parry or Tamara Korpatsch in Saturday’s showpiece.

The twin successes provide a massive boost for British sport, coinciding with the opening of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
