I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series Sponsors Promise Expanded 2026

Sponsors of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series have pledged a bigger and more exciting 2026 season following an appreciation dinner hosted by title sponsor I&M Bank Uganda at Kampala Serena Hotel on February 5.

The event brought together partners behind a tournament that has grown from a casual Entebbe Club golf outing into one of the standout fixtures on the Uganda Golf Union calendar.

Organisers said consistent sponsor support helped elevate the 2025 season, with partners contributing prizes, travel incentives, hospitality packages, and fan engagement activities across the series. RwandAir rewarded top performers with air tickets to its destinations and discounted travel for golfers attending the Kigali leg, while Serena Hotels provided staycation prizes and accommodation offers.

Mitsubishi Motors again offered a Mitsubishi Xpander as the hole in one prize, insured by GA Insurance.

Other partners including NBS Sport, Case Hospital, Timecop Security, Fenon Events, Goldman Luxury, and Johnnie Walker provided broadcast support, medical services, security, event production, hospitality activations, and promotional engagement. Organisers say this backing helped maintain full fields across last season, including strong Ugandan participation at the Kigali regional edition.

Katogo captain Elly Kibuuka Mukasa thanked partners for sustained support and highlighted the series’ evolution. “Thank you for your support last year. Because of the combined efforts from all of you, we managed to consolidate our past achievements and even attain new ones. I’m happy to share that before you all came on board, the Katogo Series was just a small ordinary golf outing like any other, but a few years down the road, we are setting the benchmark for all other competitions,” he said.

Corporate social responsibility remains part of the partnership, with I&M Bank continuing education support for caddies and children of course maintenance staff. CEO Robin Bairstow said the broader focus has added meaning to the series while also delivering business benefits.

“Focusing on more than just the competitive side of the series has been very rewarding. It is encouraging to support those working behind the scenes, who help everything run smoothly, especially on tournament days,” he said. “We sold 16 Mitsubishi pickup trucks through the Tukikube ne I&M Bank campaign, which were displayed on tournament days at Entebbe Club, clearly demonstrating the tangible business value of this partnership.”

The 2026 season will tee off on March 14, with organisers planning further regional engagement and possible new competition formats. I&M Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Annette Nakiyaga said Kenyan golfers from Limuru Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and other clubs will visit Entebbe later this year for the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes, with another regional tour also planned.

“This year, Kenyan golfers from Limuru Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and other clubs, will visit Entebbe Club later, for the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes, which they won at Limuru in 2024, during the inaugural regional leg. We also have another regional tour planned for this year, and we will communicate the date later in the season,” she said.

Nakiyaga added that additional sponsors are expected to join the platform. “We will be unveiling a new sponsor soon. Expect us to raise the bar even higher this year in all aspects,” she said.

With partners reaffirming commitment, a professionals category under consideration, and new formats being explored, organisers say the 2026 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is set for continued growth on Uganda’s golf calendar.
