Postecoglou: Spurs “Not a Big Club” Following Frank Sacking

Former Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has launched a stinging critique of the club, labeling them “not a big club” due to their restrictive financial strategy.

His comments follow the dismissal of his successor, Thomas Frank, who was sacked Wednesday with Spurs sitting just five points above the relegation zone.

Postecoglou told The Overlap that Spurs’ wage structure prevented the signing of top targets like Pedro Neto, Bryan Mbeumo, and Marc Guehi, who all joined rival clubs for massive fees.

Despite winning the 2025 Europa League, Postecoglou was sacked after a 17th-place finish. He argued the board fails to understand that “to actually win, you’ve got to take some risks.”

He noted that the departure of chairman Daniel Levy has created an “environment of uncertainty” and a “curious” culture where even world-class managers fail.

Tottenham has now burned through five managers since 2019, leaving the club in a state of chronic instability as they search for Frank’s replacement.
