Uganda Athletics has officially unveiled the 13th edition of the Source of the Nile Half Marathon, set for 15 February 2026 in Jinja City, with organisers positioning the race as an important preparation platform for athletes targeting major international competitions later this year.
Uganda Athletics publicity secretary Abdallah Muhammad said the annual event helps local runners gauge their performance levels ahead of global assignments, including the World Road Running Championships scheduled for September in Denmark.
He emphasised the race’s contribution to athlete development over the years.
“The Source of the Nile Half Marathon has played a vital role in developing our athletes. Through this race, they are able to improve their speed and timing, which prepares them to compete favorably in full marathons on the international stage like World champion Jacob Kiplimo is also a product of this race,” says Muhammad.
More than 200 athletes, both men and women, have already registered for the 21 kilometre road race.
Competitors will contest medals and cash prizes, with the race set to start and finish at First Gym in Jinja City at exactly 8:00 a.m.
