Black’s Power will begin the second round of the FUFA Big League this weekend top of the table and four points clear, with promotion to the Uganda Premier League firmly in sight.
The leaders sit on 29 points, ahead of second placed Kig3zi Homeboys, and travel to Nwoya to face Young Elephants Academy FC in their opening fixture of the second round. The side carries momentum into the contest after beating the same opponents 3 to 1 at Ebenezer University Playground earlier in the season.
Head coach Lukyamuzi Michael, widely known as “Skills,” said the focus is on strengthening an already competitive squad as the run in intensifies. “We are looking for quality players who fit our philosophy and game plan,” he said, expressing confidence in the team’s preparation for the decisive phase of the campaign.
Lukyamuzi confirmed that most of his squad is fit, although captain Isaac Okello and goalkeeper Emmanuel Odongkara are still recovering from injuries. He urged supporters and stakeholders to rally behind the team as the promotion push gathers pace, adding, “We can not perform without you.”
Okello backed the coach’s optimism, stating the players are ready for the challenge ahead. He also thanked the club’s main sponsor, Meru Millers, for consistent financial backing that has helped players focus fully on football.
Off the pitch, media officer Abel Ogwang confirmed that the club will continue hosting matches at Ebenezer University Playground, with Akiibua Memorial Stadium still under construction. He also revealed that replica jerseys will soon go on sale at the club premises, offering fans another way to show their support.
With a narrow lead at the top and a demanding second round ahead, Black’s Power know there is little margin for error. Their trip to Nwoya could set the tone for a campaign that they hope will end in promotion.
