Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange says interim manager Igor Tudor could earn a permanent stay if he successfully steers the club away from a relegation scrap.
Tudor, the former Juventus boss, signed a six-month deal earlier this month to replace Thomas Frank.
Despite the short-term contract, Lange is open to a longer appointment: “If things go well, he could be here for a long time. He impressed us very, very much in the interview.”
The Croatian faces a daunting task. While Spurs have reached the Champions League last 16, their domestic form is dire:
Tottenham are currently 5 points above the relegation zone with only 2 wins in their last 17 league matches.
The goal is survival for a club that hasn’t been relegated since 1978.
Tudor remains “100% convinced” Spurs will stay up, emphasizing “mentality” over systems. “I’m not here to enjoy it, I’m here to work,” he said.
Tudor’s first game is a baptism of fire: Sunday’s North London derby against Arsenal. He inherits a squad ravaged by an injury crisis, with 10 players sidelined.
“We trained with 13 players,” Tudor revealed. “It is an even bigger challenge to succeed from this situation.”
Lange also defended the club’s quiet January window—highlighted by the arrival of Conor Gallagher—insisting few “difference-makers” were available.
Now, the burden of proof falls on Tudor to prove he is the man to lead Tottenham’s rebuild.
