The second round of the 2025 to 2026 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League began on Saturday with leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies held to a 1-1 draw by St Noa Girls, while Uganda Martyrs WFC secured a 2-0 victory over Lady Doves.
At St Noa, Kawempe looked on course to extend their lead at the top when Latifah Nakasi struck in the first half. The visitors controlled large spells of the contest and created clear chances, but failed to add a second goal.
Goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya proved decisive for the hosts. The Queen Cranes shot stopper denied Agnes Nabukenya twice and kept out Jovia Nakagolo at key moments to keep St Noa in the match. Her performance earned her Player of the Match honours.
St Noa improved after the break following tactical adjustments from coach Richard Ntege. Martha Babirye, Dorcus Lwalisa and Esther Babirye replaced Imelda Kesimire, Faridah Namirimu and Patricia Nayiga, changes that brought more urgency in the final third as the rain eased in Kampala.
The equaliser arrived in added time. Captain Barbara Anomo reacted quickest during a crowded corner situation and forced the ball home to secure a point.
“We made changes that improved our play in the final third. Securing a point against the league leaders is a solid start to the second round,” Ntege said.
Kawempe coach Ayub Khalifa admitted his side let the result slip.
“We controlled most of the match but failed to double our lead and conceded a late equaliser. Our focus now is to address that as we prepare for the next game,” he said.
Elsewhere, Uganda Martyrs WFC defeated Lady Doves 2-0. Moreen Kizza, who was named Woman of the Match, opened the scoring before captain Gloria Namugerwa sealed the win.
In Soroti, Olila and Makerere University WFC shared a goalless draw, with captain Mary Lotyang earning Woman of the Match recognition. She Maroons and Amus College also settled for a 0-0 draw at Luzira Prison Grounds.
Matchday 12 concludes on Sunday as Asubo Ladies host She Corporate at Kampala Quality Ground, while Rines travel to face Kampala Queens at Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
