England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was rushed to the hospital with a serious head injury during AC Milan’s 1-0 loss to Parma on Sunday.
The 30-year-old collided with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi early in the match at the San Siro.
After receiving extensive treatment on the pitch, Loftus-Cheek was carried off in a head and neck brace. Reports from Sky Italia indicate he suffered a broken jaw and lost several teeth.
The injury casts serious doubt on his availability for England’s World Cup squad this June. Loftus-Cheek had recently earned a recall to the national side under Thomas Tuchel after a seven-year absence.
Milan’s defeat leaves them 10 points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan, while Mariano Troilo’s 80th-minute winner moved Parma up to 12th.
