KCCA advanced to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 1–0 win over Mbarara City FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Sunday.
The decisive moment came late in the first half when Obenchan met a well delivered set piece and guided his effort home to separate the sides before the break.
KCCA started with intent and controlled the early exchanges, forcing Mbarara City goalkeeper Emukule into action inside the opening minutes. The visitors absorbed sustained pressure, especially from dead ball situations, and held firm for much of the first period.
Mbarara City also carved out opportunities and required a sharp save from Mutwalibi Mugolofa midway through the half to keep the contest level at that stage. The breakthrough eventually arrived in the closing moments of the opening period, giving the hosts a narrow advantage heading into halftime.
After the restart, the tie grew more physical as Mbarara City pushed for an equaliser. Several cautions followed as both sides battled for control in midfield. Despite late pressure, KCCA remained organised defensively and managed the closing stages to seal progression.
The round of 32 continues on Tuesday, February 24, when Kitara FC host Entebbe UPPC FC, while Pajule Lions SC travel to face Vipers SC.
