The Britam Golf Series has expanded to Uganda, with the third leg of the 2026 season scheduled for February 28 at Uganda Golf Club.
The regional tournament, organised by Britam Insurance Company (Uganda) Limited, will now include Uganda as a key stop on its calendar, bringing regional golfers, corporate leaders and partners to compete on one of East Africa’s oldest courses.
The series runs throughout the year, featuring multiple competitive legs that build toward a grand finale. Each event offers players a chance to compete for top honours while taking part in skills challenges such as Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin. Organisers say the format is designed to blend competition with premium hospitality and high level networking.
Speaking at the launch in Kampala, Anthony Kibe, Senior Operations Manager at Britam Insurance Company Uganda Limited, said the move reflects the company’s long term commitment to the sport.
“The expansion of the Britam Golf Series into Uganda reflects our commitment to excellence and long-term growth. Golf mirrors the values we stand for: strategy, resilience, focus, and vision. Through this year-long Series, we are proud to support Uganda’s growing golf culture while creating meaningful platforms for connection, excellence, and opportunity,” Kibe said.
Uganda’s golf scene has grown steadily in recent years, evolving from a largely corporate pastime into a competitive and social platform that attracts professionals, entrepreneurs and emerging talent. Weekend tournaments at Uganda Golf Club regularly draw large fields across various handicap categories, supported by an increase in corporate sponsored events.
Owachi Jerry, Vice Captain of Uganda Golf Club, welcomed the development.
“As one of our esteemed corporate members, Britam continues to play a pivotal role in championing the growth of golf and strengthening corporate engagement through sport. We are therefore proud to be the very first club in Uganda to host this high-profile event, bringing with it a blend of competition, networking and sporting excellence,” he said.
“More than just a tournament, the Britam Golf day is set to deliver an unforgettable experience, one that brings together business leader, golf enthusiasts and partners for a day of friendly competition and meaningful connections. We look forward to welcoming players, partners and the media to what promises to be a standout addition to Uganda’s golfing calendar. Let the games begin!”
The February 28 event marks the start of Uganda’s participation in the 2026 Britam Golf Series season, with organisers positioning it as a boost to both local golf and regional business tourism.
