Sacked New Zealand coach Scott Robertson will return to the dugout this summer to lead the Barbarians in high-profile clashes against South Africa and Wales.
Robertson, whose two-year tenure with the All Blacks ended in January, will take charge of the invitational side in Port Elizabeth on June 20, before heading to Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on June 27.
He will be joined in the coaching setup by Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi.
“The Barbarians brings the rugby world together,” Robertson said. “It’s special to be a part of it and to honour the jersey.”
Despite his departure from the New Zealand role, Robertson remains a sought-after name.
While a non-compete clause currently prevents him from joining a top-tier Test rival until 2027, he has already been linked with a move to Premiership side Harlequins.
The 51-year-old, who won seven straight Super Rugby titles with the Crusaders, previously stated his ultimate ambition is to win the Rugby World Cup with both New Zealand and another nation.
