Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt has made Champions League history, eliminating three-time winners Inter Milan with a 2-1 victory at the San Siro (5-2 on aggregate).
The win secures the club’s first-ever spot in the tournament’s knockout stage.
Despite a daunting atmosphere, the team from the Arctic Circle defied the odds yet again.
Jens Petter Hauge opened the scoring—his sixth goal of the campaign—before setting up Hakon Evjen for a clinical second.
The result completes a home-and-away double over the Serie A leaders.
First Norwegian side to progress in a Champions League knockout tie since 1987.
Bodo/Glimt have now defeated Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan in a single campaign.
They are the first team outside Europe’s “Big Five” leagues to win four consecutive games against those leagues since Ajax in 1971-72.
“It is a historical moment for Bodo and for Norwegian football,” said manager Kjetil Knutsen. “We show if we can do it, everyone can do it.”
Bodo/Glimt now move into the Last 16, where they will face either Manchester City or Sporting CP.
