Manchester United are reportedly preparing a “very tempting” summer bid for Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye to replace the outgoing Casemiro.
With Casemiro confirmed to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in June, United’s recruitment team has identified the 27-year-old Senegal international as the “ideal” successor.
Gueye recently cemented his status as a national hero by scoring the extra-time winner in January’s Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
Gueye has become a pillar of Marcelino’s Villarreal side, netting three goals and an assist in 19 appearances this season.
While under contract for two more years, Villarreal may struggle to fend off a significant offer from the Premier League giants.
United scouts view the left-footed midfielder as a “ready-made” signing capable of adapting instantly to English football.
United reportedly face “significant interest” from other European clubs and may need to act quickly to secure the midfielder once the window opens.
