After a 12-year absence, Côte d’Ivoire is returning to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Reinstated as one of the continent’s top-ranked teams, the “Elephantes” are determined to prove they belong among Africa’s elite.
Star forward Ami Diallo, a CAF Award nominee following her standout run with ASEC Mimosas, says the team is approaching the tournament with “humility and strong determination.”
“It is a second chance for us, and we intend to make the most of it,” Diallo told CAFOnline.
Under head coach Reynald Pedros, the squad is focusing on tactical rigour and mental strength.
The recent success of Ivorian clubs in the CAF Women’s Champions League has provided the squad with invaluable high-pressure experience.
Diallo identifies the team’s “unity and ambition” as their greatest strength heading into the competition.
Diallo, who has become a symbol of the Ivorian revival, promised fans “leadership and commitment” on the pitch. For her, a strong performance isn’t just about winning—it’s about inspiring the next generation of Ivorian girls to believe in their dreams.
