Lionel Messi scored twice and inspired a stunning second-half turnaround as Inter Miami fought back from two goals down to defeat Orlando City 4-2.
The reigning champions looked headed for a second straight loss after early goals from Marco Pasalic and Martin Ojeda put Orlando 2-0 up within 25 minutes.
However, a 25-yard rocket from Mateo Silvetti just after half-time ignited the Miami revival.
Messi then took control, equalizing in the 57th minute with a signature left-footed strike.
He later turned provider, assisting Telasco Segovia for the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute, before sealing the win with a 90th-minute free-kick.
“He’s the best player to ever play this sport,” said Miami coach Javier Mascherano. “He has the ability to create chances like no one else.”
Messi now sits at 898 goals for club and country.
Inter Miami next faces DC United away this Saturday.
