Bottom-of-the-table Wolves pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset against Liverpool on Tuesday night, as Andre’s 94th-minute winner left Arne Slot’s side reeling.
The defeat marks a historic low for Liverpool, who have now lost five Premier League games to injury-time goals this season—a new competition record.
Captain Virgil van Dijk slammed the performance as “predictable and sloppy,” while manager Arne Slot admitted that missing out on Champions League qualification is now a “genuine concern.”
Andre’s deflected strike in the 94th minute sparked wild celebrations from Wolves boss Rob Edwards. Wolves are the first bottom-placed side ever to beat two top-five teams (Villa and Liverpool) in consecutive matches.
Liverpool has only nine games left to salvage a top-four spot, while Wolves remain 11 points from safety despite the win.
The two sides meet again at Molineux this Friday in the FA Cup.
