Ugandan long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo will compete in the Lisbon Half Marathon on Sunday, March 8, as part of his preparations for the London Marathon later this year.
The race in Lisbon will bring together several leading distance runners, with Kiplimo expected to headline the field as he continues building toward one of the most prestigious marathons on the global road running calendar.
Kiplimo’s appearance in Portugal forms part of his competitive build-up to London, where he is expected to test himself over the full marathon distance against some of the world’s top athletes.
The half marathon will offer the Ugandan star an opportunity to sharpen his endurance and race strategy before the major marathon assignment.
The former world half marathon champion has established himself as one of the leading names in global distance running over the past few seasons. His performances on the track and road have consistently placed Uganda among the sport’s elite nations.
Sunday’s race will therefore draw significant attention from athletics followers as Kiplimo continues fine tuning his form ahead of the London Marathon and another major challenge on the international circuit.
