Greenhill Academy Buwaate retained the National Primary Schools Swimming Gala title after finishing top at the championship held on Saturday at Greenhill Academy Kibuli in Kampala.
The event, organised by the Uganda Swimming Federation, attracted more than 26 primary schools from across the country and brought together some of Uganda’s most promising young swimmers for a full day of competition.
Greenhill Academy Buwaate finished first with 976 points, extending Greenhill Schools’ dominance in the competition. The result maintains the institution’s unbeaten record at the National Primary Schools Swimming Gala, a streak that has now lasted more than a decade.
The championship featured multiple swimming disciplines including freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and relay races, with participants competing across different age categories.
Speaking after the victory, a representative from Greenhill Schools praised the swimmers for their effort and teamwork.
“We are extremely proud of our swimmers who have once again demonstrated excellence, discipline and resilience. Winning this national gala for over a decade reflects the strength of our sports program and the commitment of our students, coaches and parents,” the representative said.
The gala also provided a platform for identifying and developing young swimming talent while encouraging healthy competition among schools.
As hosts, Greenhill Academy Kibuli welcomed athletes, coaches, parents and officials from the Uganda Swimming Federation, who attended to support the swimmers throughout the event.
Greenhill Schools say they remain committed to investing in sports alongside academics, giving students opportunities to develop their abilities and compete at national and international levels.
