Ugandan boxer Abdul Ssebute has signed a three year management agreement with Albion Boxing Academy Cambridge and Nara Promotionz as he looks to advance his professional career in the United Kingdom.
Ssebute, a former Bantamweight National Champion and ABU East and Central African regional champion, will now be managed by the Cambridge based academy in partnership with the Ugandan promotion outfit.
The agreement will see the management team oversee his training programme, provide training facilities, hire experienced coaches, and help secure opportunities with leading promoters in the UK to place him on bigger fight cards.
The Ugandan, who currently works as a chef at Hobson Hotel Cambridge, said the deal represents an important step in his career.
He said he was grateful that his prayers had been answered through the opportunity to work with a professional management team that can guide his boxing journey.
Ssebute added that progressing in the business of professional boxing in the UK is difficult without proper management, and he thanked the hotel where he works, as well as his new team and Nara Promotionz, for supporting him.
His manager Gary Davidson Jnr, a former boxer now working under Albion Boxing Academy Cambridge, said the team was impressed by Ssebute’s discipline and ability. Trainer Tony Petchell also backed the Ugandan’s potential, noting that the management group believes he has the talent to grow in the professional ranks.
Representatives from Nara Promotionz were present when the agreement was reached, including director Lubowa Babu Hussein and secretary Edirisa Kiyemba, both of whom expressed full support for the partnership.
Hobson Hotel Cambridge has also indicated it is willing to sponsor Ssebute during his fight nights. The hotel management said they welcome Ugandans to visit their facilities across the United Kingdom, where they operate several branches.
