Veteran defender Kyle Walker has announced his immediate retirement from international football at age 35, ending a distinguished 14-year career with the Three Lions.
The Burnley full-back earned 96 caps for England, featuring in five major tournaments including the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and three European Championships.
Walker was a cornerstone of the side that reached back-to-back Euro finals in 2021 and 2024.
Walker is known for his searing pace and versatility, notably neutralizing Kylian Mbappé during the 2022 World Cup.
Following his omission from Thomas Tuchel’s recent squad, Walker noted it was time for “closure,” with Chelsea’s Reece James expected to fill the void.
“I am sad to be making this decision, but I’m also very proud of what I’ve achieved,” Walker said. “The book is now closed.”
Walker retires four games short of a century, leaving a legacy as one of England’s most reliable and decorated modern defenders.
