The fourth edition of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series will tee off its 2026 season this Saturday, March 14, at the par 71 course of Entebbe Club, with organisers expecting a full field following strong early registrations.
The popular amateur golf series returns after a short break, with this year’s opener introducing a new competition format called ‘It’s Up To Me’, an individual format making its debut in the tournament.
In the format, all players in a group tee off before one designated player selects where they will play their second shot from and decides where the rest of the group must play theirs. The control applies only to the second shot, but the decision can significantly influence the outcome. If the chosen ball lands out of bounds, the affected players must return to the tee and play their third shot.
Winners will be determined by the lowest nett scores at the end of the round.
Katogo Captain Elly Kibuka Mukasa said preparations for the season opener are complete and organisers are anticipating strong participation.
“We are fully prepared for this weekend. From the pace of the online registrations, we anticipate a packed course. Our promise is to deliver a memorable day for everyone, both on the course and beyond it. And when it comes to the 19th hole experience, our partners have truly pulled out all the stops to ensure the season begins in style,” he said.
Participants will compete for prizes across the men’s and ladies’ categories, alongside awards for various side bets during the round.
Golfers will also have the chance to win a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport courtesy of Victoria Motors, insured by GA Insurance, should any player record a hole in one during the competition.
Excitement ahead of the season opener has also been driven by the series’ online trivia segment, which runs from Monday to Friday. The quiz tests participants on tournament and sponsor related knowledge, with winners receiving bottles of Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve during the 19th hole experience.
Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank, said the tournament has continued to grow since its launch and the fourth edition promises to build on that momentum.
“We’re proud to see the series tee off its fourth edition this weekend. It has been quite a journey, and we’re excited about what lies ahead. Together with our partners, whose support has been vital and whose contributions we trust will help make this edition a success, we look forward to an unforgettable season,” she said.
Off the course, the 19th hole experience will feature cocktails and special bottle offers from Johnnie Walker before a Caribbean themed after party headlined by Ugandan musician A Pass.
The 2026 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is supported by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital and Time Cop Security.
