Uganda’s rising table tennis player Patience Anyango secured a silver medal in the U13 Girls’ Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Havířov 2026 in Havířov, Czechia after a closely contested five set final against home player Adela Brhelova.
Anyango pushed the Czech youngster all the way before losing 3 to 2 in the final. The Ugandan started strongly, taking the opening game 13 to 11 in a tightly fought contest. Brhelova responded quickly, dominating the second game 11 to 2 before edging the third 14 to 12 to move ahead.
The Ugandan rallied in the fourth game with an 11 to 6 win to force a deciding fifth set. Brhelova held her nerve in the decider, closing it out 11 to 7 to seal the title. The final scoreline read 13 to 11, 2 to 11, 12 to 14, 11 to 6, 7 to 11.
Despite the defeat, Anyango’s performance delivered Uganda a silver medal and highlighted her progress on the international stage. The result is one of the notable achievements for Ugandan table tennis at youth level.
Anyango’s campaign in Havířov is not over. The young Ugandan is also competing in the U15 category at the same event and advances to the knockout stage, where she will face older opponents as she seeks another podium finish.
