Defending champion Jack Draper kept his title defense alive on Wednesday, battling back from a set down to stun Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/5).
The 24-year-old Briton outlasted the 38-year-old superstar in a physical third set that left Djokovic visibly fatigued.
The loss denies the Serb his first Indian Wells quarterfinal appearance since 2016, a disappointing turn in his first tournament since the Australian Open.
Draper, who recently returned from an eight-month arm injury layoff, now faces 11th seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals.
